Report – Alexandre Pantoja vs. Alex Perez Added To UFC 277 Card On July 30.

    An exciting flyweight matchup between surging Brazilian contender, Alexandre Pantoja, and one-time title challenger, Alex Perez has been added to UFC 277 on July 30. from The American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas.

    The current #3 ranked flyweight contender, Alexandre Pantoja, a native of Rio de Janeiro, has been sidelined since landing his second straight vcitory at UFC Vegas 34 back in August of last year, submitting recent winner, Brandon Royval with a second round rear-naked choke. The victory earned Pantoja a top-3 slot as well as a Performance of the Night bonus.

    As for Perez, the Hanford native has been sidelined for almost two years, most recently headlining UFC 255 in November 2020 against current champion, Deiveson Figueiredo – suffering a quickfire opening round guillotine loss, which snapped his three-fight winning run. News of Pantoja’s return against Perez was first reported by Brazilian outlet, AgFight.

    Prior to his win over Royval, Alexandre Pantoja managed to defeat former Rizin Ff titleholder, Manel Kape with a unanimous decision victory in February of last year.

    The Brazilian boasts a 24-5 professional record, and holds both an Ultimate Fighter and UFC Fight Night Santiago victory over former undisputed champion, Brandon Moreno – submitting the latter in an exhibition bout to boot.

    A renowned finisher, Pantoja holds eight knockout wins to go with nine separate submission victories, landing notable career victories over the likes of Matt Schnell, Ulka Sasaki, Neil Seery, Eric Shelton, Damacio Page, as well as one-time title challenger, Wilson Reis. Pantoja also defeated incoming interim title chaser, Kai Kara-France on The Ultimate Fighter 24.

    Prior to his defeat against Figueiredo, Perez had rebounded from a knockout loss to the now-retired, Joseph Benavidez – landing a trio of wins against Mark De La Rosa, Jordan Espinosa, and Jussier Formiga.

    In the time since his loss to Figueiredo, Perez has been booked to fight both the aforenoted, Schnell, and would-be common-foe, Askar Askarov on multiple – occasions with pairings continually falling to the wayside. 

    UFC 277 takes place on July 30. from The American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas – with an undisputed bantamweight championship rematch between Julianna Peña, and featherweight champion, Amanda Nunes set to headline the event.

    As part of a championship doubleheader, an interim title bout between the aforenoted, Moreno and Kara-France will take co-main event honors.
