Undefeated two-time PFL (Professional Fighters League) lightweight tournament victor, Kayla Harrison is set for arguably the most difficult fight of her professional mixed martial arts career to date, with the Olympian drawing former Bellator MMA featherweight champion, Julia Budd at PFL 6 on July 1. from Atlanta, Georgia.

Boasting an undefeated 13-0 professional mixed martial arts record, Kayla Harrison, a two-time Olympic gold medalist in Judo, managed to turn in her first victory of the PFL 2022 season format back in May, forced the distance for the first time since December 2019, landing a unanimous decision win against Marina Mokhnatkina in Arlington, Texas.

Inking terms with PFL last year, Budd, a native of British Columbia, Canada – suffered her first promotional loss back in May at PFL 3, dropping a unanimous decision loss to common-opponent, Genah Fabian. Budd is a former Bellator MMA featherweight champion.

The PFL confirmed Harrison’s headlining outing against Budd on July 1. on their official Twitter account this Wednesday evening, as well as a co-headlining bout between UFC and Bellator alum, Rory MacDonald, and Sadibou Sy.

Competing under the PFL banner since her transition to professional mixed martial arts back in June 2018, Kayla Harrison briefly featured under the scrutiny of the Shannon Knapp-led Invicta FC banner back in November 2020 against Courtney King – scoring a second round knockout win.

Landing stoppages victories in four of her last fights inside the SmartCage, Harrison has stopped Mariana Morais, Cindy Dandois, Genah Fabian, and Taylor Guardado, before her May decision win against Mokhnatkina.

16-4 as a professional, prior to her loss against the aforenoted, Fabian, Budd had only suffered defeats against former UFC champions, Cris Cyborg, Ronda Rousey, and current featherweight best, Amanda Nunes.

Debuting at PFL 10 in October of last year, Budd defeated Kaitlin Young with a unanimous decision success, adding to prior victories against Dayana Silva, and Jessy Miele before her move from the Scott-Coker led, Bellator MMA.

Winning the inaugural Bellator featherweight title in 2017, Budd defeated Marloes Coenen with fourth round strikes, before defending the title three times against Arlene Blencowe, Talita Nogueira, and Olga Rubin.
