Khamzat Chimaev Calls Out ‘Skinny’ Nate Diaz Amid Leaks Of Potential Fight

    Undefeated UFC welterweight contender, Khamzat Chimaev has added fuel to the proverbial fire on a matchup against former lightweight title challenger, Nate Diaz – after footage of the matchmaking board of the UFC headquarters appeared to show a co-main event matchup between the two for UFC 276 on July 2. during International Fight Week.

    Fans were sent into raptures late last night across social media, when footage of the UFC’s ‘War Room’ appeared during a podcast featuring promotional president, Dana White – with a series of leaked potential matchups on the promotion’s matchmaking whiteboards, leaked during the episode.

    Amongst the leaks, a UFC 276 headliner between middleweight champion, Israel Adesanya and challenger, Jared Cannonier topped a July 2. card – while quite surprisingly, Khamzat Chimaev, who is ranked at #3 in the official welterweight pile, was placed underneath in a co-main event fight with the aforenoted, Diaz.

    Khamzat Chimaev has welcomed a high-profile fight against Nate Diaz

    Whilst the potentially leaked matchup between Khamzat Chimaev and Diaz has yet to be confirmed by the promotion, and its status of its potential booking still remains up in the air, Chimaev has since called out Diaz on his official Twitter account – among a host of other calls. 

    “Let’s fight skinny @NateDiaz209 (cigarette emoji),” Khamzat Chimaev tweeted.

    In his most recent Octagon outing, Chimaev, a native of Chechnya – managed to extend his undefeated run in the promotion to five consecutive fights – landing a close, unanimous decision win over one-time title challenger, Gilbert Burns on the main card of UFC 273 last month.

    For Stockton fan-favorite, Diaz, the Californian retains just a single fight on his current UFC deal, and despite continually campaigning for his final fight, as well as a matchup with Dustin Poirier – the promotion have yet to book Diaz for his final contracted fight.
