Report – Robbie Lawler Returns, Meets Bryan Barberena At UFC 276 On July 2.

    Former undisputed UFC welterweight champion, Robbie Lawler is set to make his first Octagon outing since September of last year – drawing recent UFC Columbus victor, Bryan Barberena on July 2. at UFC 276 from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

    Robbie Lawler, who most recently featured on the main card of UFC 266 back in September, managed to avenge a 2004 knockout loss to the returning, Nick Diaz – handing the Stockton fan-favorite with a third round knockout in a middleweight pairing.

    For Barberena, the Montclair native managed to secure his second straight victory at UFC Columbus last month – beating common-foe, Matt Brown with a split decision win on enemy territory. Barberena confirmed his matchup with Lawler on his official Instagram account.

    Snapping a run of four straight fights without a victory, Robbie Lawler, a former undisputed welterweight champion under the banner of the UFC, had dropped a quartet of losses against Neil Magny, Colby Covington, Ben Askren, and Rafael dos Anjos prior to his rematch success against the above mentioned, Diaz.

    Robbie Lawler landed the UFC welterweight championship back in 2014

    29-15(1) as a professional, Lawler managed to clinch the undisputed UFC welterweight title back in December 2014, defeating Johny Hendricks in a split decision rematch win. In two successful title defenses in back-to-back Fight of the Year winners, Lawler defeated both Rory MacDonald, and Carlos Condit.

    17-8 across the span of his professional career, Barberena added Brown to a prior win over Darian Weeks back in December of last year at UFC Vegas 44. 

    Making his UFC debut in December 2014, California native, Barberena would land in the promotion with a knockout win over Joe Ellenberger – eventually adding prior victories over the likes of Sage Northcutt, Warlley Alves, as well as Jake Ellenberger. 

    At the time of publication, an official main event for the July 2. UFC 276 pay-per-view event has yet to be determined by the organization.
