Report – Zhang Weili vs. Joanna Jedrzejczyk II Targeted For UFC 275 On June 11.

    A massive strawweight rematch and potential title-eliminator is currently in the works for UFC 275 on June 11. – with former divisional champions, Zhang Weili, and Joanna Jedrzejczyk verbally agreeing to run back their consensus 2019 Fight of the Year at the Singapore Indoor Stadium this summer.

    Per an initial report by ESPN reporter, Marc Raimondi, as per UFC Chief Business Officer, Hunter Campbell, both Zhang Weili and Joanna Jedrzejczyk have verbally agreed to the June rematch – with official bout agreements set to be sent out soon.

    “Arguably the greatest fight in women’s MMA history is going to be run back,” Marc Raimondi tweeted. “Zhang Weili vs. Joanna Jedrzejczyk has been verbally agreed for UFC 275 on June 11 in Singapore, UFC chief business officer Hunter Campbell told ESPN. Bout agreements will be sent out shortly.”

    In the sole successful defense of her strawweight title back in March 2020, Weili co-headlined UFC 248 against former champion, Jedrzejczyk, scoring a close split decision victory over the Pole in the consensus Fight of the Year, and arguably the greatest fight in strawweight history. 

    Zhang Weili and Joanna Jedrzejczyk both expressed interest in a future rematch

    In the time since, Weili has dropped the strawweight title to common-foe, Rose Namajunas – suffering a stunning high kick knockout loss last April, before suffering a judging rematch loss in November at UFC 268.

    Out of action since that monumental fight with Weili, Jedrzejczyk suffered the fourth loss of her six most recent Octagon outings – having previously compiled a 14-0 professional record.

    In her most recent victory, Joanna Jedrzejczyk turned in a vintage striking performance against one-time Invicta FC atomweight best, Michelle Waterson in the main event of UFC Fight NIght Tampa in October 2019. 

    Landing five successful defenses of her strawweight throne, Jedrzejczyk, the promotion’s second strawweight best, landed victories over Jessica Penne, Valerie Letourneau, Claudia Gadelha, Karolina Kowalkiewicz, and finally, Jessica Andrade.

    21-3 as a professional, before her title defense against Jedrzejczyk, Weili clinched the undisputed strawweight title with a blistering 42-second knockout win over common-opposition, Andrade at UFC Fight Night Shenzhen in August 2019.

    UFC 275 takes place on June 11. from the Singapore Indoor Stadium – with a light heavyweight title fight between reigning champion, Glover Teixeira, and the surging contender, Jiri Prochazka set to take main event honors.

    An undisputed flyweight title fight between divisional queen, Valentina Shevchenko, and Brazilian force, Taila Santos is also set to feature on the card in a co-main event slot.
