Former undisputed UFC flyweight kingpin, Brandon Moreno has claimed that despite assurances from promotional brass that he would be fighting three-time opponent, champion, Deiveson Figueiredo in a tetralogy bout in July – the Brazilian is actively avoiding a fourth fight with him.

Brandon Moreno, who most recently shared the Octagon with Figueiredo at UFC 270 in a January co-headliner, suffered his championship loss in the form of a close unanimous decision against the Brazilian, who became a two-time undisputed flyweight gold holder as a result.

Initially, the pair of 125lb outliers headlined UFC 256 in December 2020, battling to a majority draw over the course of five rounds – setting up a championship rematch in June of the following year.

Brandon Moreno began his second Octagon tenure back in September 2019

Scooping the undisputed title in Arizona to a massive ovation, Brandon Moreno dominated Figueiredo from the opening buzzer, submitting the Para finisher with a third round rear-naked choke – setting up January’s trilogy.

Last week, reports detailed how the promotion had landed on a tetralogy title pairing between Figueiredo and Moreno for a July event, however, the bout had yet to be officially signed by either party.

Further speculation regarding the pair’s fourth go-round was cast when the pair respectively called out recent UFC Columbus victor, the now-#2 ranked contender, Kai Kara-France – with Figueiredo offering to defend his belt against the Kiwi, while Moreno urged Kara-France to take an interim title rematch with him.

Speaking on the topic of a fourth fight with Figueiredo next, Moreno laid down his side of affairs, claiming the champion is doing whatever is possible to avoid a fourth tangle against him in July.

“I’ve already talked to the UFC, with the top guys in the promotion, and they told me that the fourth fight (with Deiveson Figueiredo) is set,” Brandon Moreno told ESPN Deportes reporter, Carlos Contreras Legaspi. “At some point, they told me not to worry, that the plan is for me to fight again for the title. So I think at this point, Deiveson (Figueiredo) is running away from me. I’m not lying – UFC wants Deiveson Figuereido vs. Brandon Moreno 4. I’ve said yes already, but the other part hasn’t.
