Off the back of her stunning Knockout of the Year contender against Luana Carolina at UFC London last weekend, Molly McCann has offered to serve as a potential backup fighter to the upcoming UFC 275 title fight between reigning champion, Valentina Shevchenko, and challenger, Taila Santos in June.

McCann, currently in the midst of a two-fight winning spree, featured on the main card of UFC London last weekend, landing a spectacular third round spinning back elbow knockout victory over Carolina – sending The O2 Arena into raptures with her first promotional victory.

Following her stunning knockout win, the Liverpool fan favorite scaled the Octagon fence, embraced UFC president, Dana White – and even found a UFC championship belt, clutching the crown from a fan and marching round the Octagon with the title in tow.

Offering her services as a potential backup fighter for UFC 275 on June 11. – McCann insists that should incoming title challenger, the aforenoted Brazilian contender, Santos should be forced from a title affair with Shevchenko – she would welcome a title offing against the Kyrgyzstan finisher.

“I’m bulletproof in here now,” Molly McCann said on The MMA Hour. “And I wasn’t until the (Ji Yeon) Kim fight in September, but this really solidified now – I am the business, and when I believe I am, you get them kinds of performances. If I’m someone who can give an emotional performance every single time, and when you get the good emotion out of me, you get world-class performances – it just takes time to get that and to get it right, and I feel the stars have aligned for me.”

“I feel like I’m coming into my prime and I’m starting to get there,” Molly McCann explained. “The press have said a lot of stuff and the media have said a lot of stuff about me going for the belt, this, that, and the other, but I just know normally I would be drinking a lot more alcohol and eating a lot more sh*t food, but not now. I will always be training, I won’t be taking time off, I’m really, really focused about coming for the belt and I’m not gonna be calling (Valentina) Shevchenko out, but if Taila Santos gets an injury or anything like that in June, I’m over here.” (Transcribed by MMA Fighting)

For Santos, the streaking #5 ranked contender already holds a unanimous judging victory against Molly McCann, and most recently stopped Joanne Wood with a first round rear-naked choke back in November – improving to 19-1.
