Report – Kevin Holland Helps Apprehend Gunman During Shooting At Houston Restaurant

    UFC welterweight contender, Kevin Holland, as well as two others, helped apprehend an active shooter at a sushi restaurant in Houston, Texas last night, per multiple reports.

    Holland, who recently featured at UFC 272 earlier this month, made his welterweight division bow under the promotion’s banner with a second round knockout win over Alex Oliveira.

    According to multiple reports in the Houston area, a gunman opened fire at a sushi restaurant, filled with patrons at around 11:30 p.m. local time last night, with Holland and two other males helping to apprehend the gunman before anyone was injured.

    The establishment, RA Sushi in Highland Park, Houston saw its panic alarm triggered around 11:30 p.m. local time last night, when an assailant began opening fire in the restaurant, which contained between 40 and 50 patrons at the time.

    However, before anyone was injured, the aforenoted, Holland, and a training partner of his, Patrick Robinson acted to apprehend the active shooter.

    “Next thing you know, you just hear a ‘pop’ and then everybody started getting down,” Patrick Robinson told NBC-2 TV. “Everybody started getting down. Next thing you know, me and my buddy (Kevin Holland), ran to the shooter, got him down, strangled him, took the gun from him, and then called the police.     Holland, a native of Riverside, California opted against speaking with local media at the scene, however, provided a statement to the Houston Police Department following the frightening incident.

    “I laugh a lot even when things aren’t funny,” Kevin Holland wrote on his Instagram story. “I smile when I should fround. Super blessed and thankful to see today. Kiss ya kids, hug ya family and treat random people with care. You never know what a mfer may be going through.”

    The suspected assailant was subsequently arrested by responding law enforcement officers, and was in possession of narcotics at the time of his arrest. The 24-year-old male was wanted for a failure to appear notice in relation to a prior criminal mischief charge, and was charged with possessing a stolen firearm and the discharge of that firearm following last night’s shooting.”
