Report – Rob Font vs. Marlon Vera Headlines UFC Vegas 54 On April 30.

    A pivotal bantamweight main event between the #5 rated challenger, Rob Font, and the #8 ranked contender, Marlon Vera is set to take main event honors at UFC Vegas 54 on April 30. from the UFC Apex facility in Las Vegas, Nevada.

    Headlining for the third consecutive outing in his UFC tenure, Massachusetts native, Font headlined a December Fight Night card against former featherweight champion, Jose Aldo – seeing his four-fight winning streak snapped in a comprehensive unanimous decision loss.

    For Vera, the Chone native featured at UFC 268 in November most recently at Madison Square Garden – recording an impressive third round front-kick knockout win over former undisputed lightweight champion, Frankie Edgar. ESPN MMA reporter, Brett Okamoto was first to report the booking of Font and Vera.

    19-5 as a professional, Font, a staple at New England Cartel, had enjoyed an impressive four-fight winning rise prior to his loss to Manaus veteran, Aldo in December.

    Before his defeat, Font bested former undisputed bantamweight champion, Cody Garbrandt over five rounds, after stopping UFC Vegas 50 co-headliner, Marlon Moraes – adding the Brazilian to a run of prior victories against both Ricky Simon, and current Bellator bantamweight best, Sergio Pettis.

    29-year-old Ecuadorian finisher, Vera is enjoying a two-fight winning run since his UFC Vegas 17 loss to common-opponent, Aldo in December 2020.

    After the loss, Vera bested both two-time opponent, Davey Grant, and then the aforenoted, Edgar – adding the New Jersey favorite to a career résumé that includes triumphs against the likes of Brad Pickett, Brian Kelleher, Andre Ewell, and a high-profile stoppage win against fellow contender, Sean O’Malley.

    A former Team Oyama trainee, Vera took his talents to the RUCA (stylized as RVCA) facility last year on a full time basis to train under the tutelage of Jason Parillo.
