Ahead of his main event slot this weekend at UFC 272, two-time promotional title challenger, Jorge Masvidal has put pen to paper on a new, multi-fight deal with the organization, with his management firm claiming the deal will pay him like a champion, and make him one of the top earners in the UFC.

Masvidal, who rides a two-fight losing run into his UFC 272 headlining bout against arch-rival, the #1 ranked former interim welterweight champion, Colby Covington, is set to make his twenty-first outing under the promotion’s banner on Saturday night.

In his most recent appearance, Masvidal headlined UFC 261 back in April of last year against common-foe, Kamaru Usman, suffering a second round knockout loss in his second unsuccessful siege at the undisputed welterweight throne.

Ahead of his matchup with past American Top Team training partner, Covington at the T-Mobile Arena on Saturday, Masvidal has penned a new deal with the organization, with his manager, First Round Management agent, Malki Kawa confirming the new contractual agreement with the UFC.

“New fight contract that makes Jorge (Masvidal) top-3 highest paid in UFC,” Malki Kawa tweeted. “Good work team! Thank you @ufc and Hunter Campbell specifically for working on this contract with us. #ppvmonster #baseguarantees #top3.”

Speaking with ESPN MMA reporter, Marc Raimondi, Kawa confirmed that Masvidal would now be paid “like a champion” as a result of his new agreement with the promotion.

“His (Jorge Masvidal) contract pays like a champion and then some,” Malki Kawa said. “And the length of time will be that he will finish his career in the UFC.”

In his most recent win, Masvidal managed to land the symbolic BMF championship with an eventual third round doctor’s stoppage TKO win against Nate Diaz in the main event of UFC 244 in November 2019 at Madison Square Garden.

Also featuring at MSG in his last outing, Covington suffered his second career loss to Usman in the form of a unanimous decision loss to the Auchi native in an undisputed welterweight title fight.
