Report – Brandon Royval Returns, Meets Matt Schnell At UFC 274 On May 7.

    A flyweight clash between the #4 rated contender, Brandon ‘Raw Dawg’ Royval and the #7 ranked challenger, Matt ‘Danger’ Schnell has been added to UFC 274 on May 7. – with an official location or venue for the bout event yet to be determined by the organization.

    Snapping a two-fight losing run last time out, Royval managed to secure a close split judging win over Rogerio Bontorin at UFC Vegas 46 back in January of this year.

    For Schnell, the 32-year-old saw yet another booked bout against one-time division championship challenger, Alex Perez shelved ahead of UFC 271 earlier this month, after Perez failed to make weight for their showdown. Iridium Sports Agency confirmed the pairing of Royval and Schnell on their official Twitter account.

    Prior to his win over Bontorin, Royval had suffered a pair of disappointing losses to both the surging Alexandre Pantoja, as well as a title-eliminator loss to former division gold holder, Brandon Moreno.

    Brandon Royval, a former LFA flyweight champion debuted under the UFC’s banner back in May 2020, submitting one-time title challenger, Tim Elliott, before scoring an impressive second round guillotine choke win over Kai Kara-France at UFC 253 in September of that year.

    Schnell, a former Legacy FC interim flyweight champion, has so far managed to secure a promotional record of 5-3(1) since his UFC tenure began back in December 2016. Suffering losses to the trio of Rob Font, Hector Sandoval, and common-foe, Pantoja – Schnell has defeated Tyson Nam, Jordan Espinosa, Louis Smolka, Naoki Inoue, and Marco Beltran under the organization’s banner.

    UFC 274 is set to take place on May 7. – with an undisputed lightweight title bout between division champion, Charles Oliveira and former interim lightweight titleholder, Justin Gaethje slated to land on card.

    An undisputed light heavyweight title showdown between titleholder, Glover Teixeira, and challenger, Jiri Prochazka is also booked for the pay-per-view showcase.
