A high-stakes flyweight pairing between the #6 ranked contender, Viviane ‘Vivi’ Araujo, and the #8 rated contender, Andrea ‘KGB’ Lee is currently in the works to land at a UFC Fight Night event on May 14. – with a location or venue for the event yet to be determined by the organization.
Ceilandia native, Araujo saw her impressive two-fight winning run halted by the surging one-time flyweight title challenger, recent UFC Vegas 46 feature, Katlyn Chookagian back in May at UFC 262 – dropping a unanimous decision loss.
For Lee, the former LFA flyweight champion managed to score her second consecutive victory back in November at UFC Vegas 42, earning a Performance of the Night bonus against Cynthia Calvillo after forcing a second round doctor’s stoppage. News of the flyweight clash was initially reported by MMA Junkie reporters, Nolan King, Farah Hannoun, and John Morgan.
Before her judging defeat to free agent, Chookagian, Brazilian veteran, Araujo had embarked on an eye-catching two-fight winning spree against both Roxanne Modafferi, and Montana De La Rosa.
The former Pancrase strawweight champion boasts a 10-3 professional record, with her sole other UFC loss coming in the form of a unanimous decision loss to former title challenger, Jessica Eye back in December 2019.
In other Octagon victories, Araujo has bested the duo of Talita Bernardo, as well as former bantamweight title challenger, Alexis Davis.
An eight-fight UFC veteran, Lee has managed to land a 5-3 promotional resume since her transition from Invicta FC back in May 2018.
Initially debuting with a three-fight winning run, the Texan would land three consecutive unanimous decision wins against Veronica Macedo, Ashlee-Evans Smith, as well as common-foe, De La Rosa.
Despite starting her UFC run with an eye-catching streak, Lee fell to three straight losses – dropping losses to Joanne Calderwood, Lauren Murphy, and then common-foe, Modafferi before her recent wins against Antonina Shevchenko, and Calvillo.
The UFC Fight Night event is slated to take place on May 14., however, an official location or venue for the showcase has yet to be determined by the organization. Former bantamweight champion, Miesha Tate is expected to make her flyweight division debut against the aforenoted, Lauren Murphy at the event.
