Reigning UFC featherweight champion, Alexander ‘The Great’ Volkanovski has opened as a marginal betting favorite against former undisputed champion, Max ‘Blessed’ Hollowayahead of the pair’s trilogy bout later this year.

Reports emerged this week, detailing how Volkanovski and Holloway will clash for the third time at UFC 272 on March 5. – from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, in a bid to finally bring closure to a tight rivalry between the two.

Initially meeting back in December 2019, Volkanovski clinched the undisputed featherweight championship with a close decision win over defending champion, Holloway.

In his first attempted title defense in the following July on ‘Fight Island’ in Abu Dhabi, UAE – Volkanovski remained the king of the featherweights, this time narrowing outpointing Holloway with a split decision victory a UFC 261.

According to the opening betting lines from online bookie, Sportsbetting.ag – Volkanovski is available at odds of -155 – making him the opening betting favorite, while challenger and #1 ranked contender, Holloway opens as a betting underdog at +155.

Following his second career win over Holloway, Volkanovski would headline UFC 266 back in September, besting two-time title chaser, and common-foe, Brian Ortega over the course of five gruelling rounds.

In his time since losing the featherweight title, Holloway has gone 2-0 – retaining his #1 rank in the official featherweight pile.

Rebounding in a spectacular, one-sided, record-setting win over Calvin Kattar back in January on ‘Fight Island’ at UFC on ABC 1 – Holloway would then defeat the returning, Yair Rodriguez back in November in the main event of UFC Vegas 42.

UFC 272 takes place on March 5. from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada – with a bantamweight title unification bout between Aljamain Sterling, and interim titleholder, Petr Yan also slated to feature at the flagship event.
