A pivotal UFC light heavyweight clash between the #10 ranked, Johnny Walker, and the #12 rated challenger, Jamahal Hill has been added to UFC Vegas 48 on February 19. – from the UFC Apex facility in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Suffering his third loss in his four most recent Octagon pairings back in October, Walker dropped a unanimous decision defeat to one-time title challenger, Thiago Santos in the main event of UFC Vegas 38.
Featuring on the main card of UFC Vegas 44 last month, Hill scored his ninth professional victory with a thunderous opening round knockout win over Jimmy Crute in just 48-seconds. The win earned Hill a Performance of the Night bonus. Meni Mayer was first to report the targeted tie between Walker and Hill, with MMA Fighting reporters, Mike Heck, and Guilherme Cruzconfirming the bout’s appearance at UFC Vegas 48 on February 19.
Walker, who recently tested positive for COVID-19, has featured seven-times under the UFC”s banner since his transition from Dana White’s Contender Series back in November 2018.
Landing in the promotion with a massive first round knockout win over Khalil Rountree Jr. – Walker would go on to score a pair of further knockout wins over Justin Ledet, and then Misha Cirkunov, before dropping a pair of losses to both Corey Anderson, and Nikita Krylov.
In between his losses to Krylov and Santos, the Rio de Janeiro native and Straight Blast Gym Ireland staple managed a rallying effort to stop Ryan Spann with opening round strikes.
Another product of DWCS – slick Illinois striker, Hill rebounded from a first round armbar loss to Paul Craig at UFC 263 in June, with his first round knockout stoppage over Crute last month. In his other promotional victories, Hill has bested both Darko Stosic, and one-time interim light heavyweight title chaser, Ovince Saint Preux.
UFC Vegas 48 is slated to take place on February 19. – from the UFC Apex facility in Las Vegas, Nevada – with a main event bout yet to be determined by the organization.
