Surging Bellator MMA welterweight contender, Michael ‘Venom’ Page appears set to challenge for gold for the first time in his next outing, with promotional president, Scott Coker confirming the organization are planning on hosting an event in London in the second quarter of this year – which would see Page headline against current division kingpin, Yaroslav ‘Dynamo’ Amosov.

Undefeated in his stunning 26 fight professional career, Ukraine native, Amosov most recently dethroned common-foe, Douglas Lima at Bellator 260 in June to lift the undisputed welterweight crown. The victory came as Amosov’s seventh under the Bellator banner.

Returning to London back in October, kickboxing sensation, Page avenged his sole career loss to the above mentioned, Lima, taking home a close, debated split decision victory over the course of three rounds.

Speaking with MMA Junkie recently, promotional leader, Coker confirmed the organization are planning to host an event in London in the second quarter of this year, with Page headlining against champion, Amosov.

I know MVP (Michael Page) was kinda back and forth – do I want to fight (Douglas) Lima again (trilogy fight), do I want to fight (Yaroslav) Amosov and then we said, hey, just go think about it,” Coker said. “Our opinion as a company is you want to take the next step. You want to go fight for the belt now. This is your time. If you don’t do it now, when are you gonna do it? And then you can come back and fight Lima again in the future.

So to me, it’s the right fight to put together,” Coker continued. “I think it’ll happen in the second quarter (of 2022). It will be in London, and it will be a massive fight over there because he’s (Page) such a big star.

Coker has theorised that Page will present a huge stylistic puzzle for recently minted champion, Amosov to solve, before doubling down that a clash will take place this year.

Believe me, a lot of people are saying, well, Amosov is so good and he’s – yeah he is that good and that’s why his record is undefeated. But MVP has a very unique style and he’s very hard to hit, to catch and it’s gonna be interesting to see how Amosov handles that because he’s fighting like a very awkward, karate style combatant and it’s not like your normal MMA fighter that’s just doing a lot of crazy stuff and that’s why people love him, but that fight will happen at some point in 2022 for sure.”

Throughout his run with Bellator, Amosov has defeated the septet of Gerald Harris, Erick Silva, David Rickels, Ed Ruth, Mark Lemminger, Logan Storley, and the previously mentioned, Lima.

In the midst of an impressive six-fight winning run since his knockout defeat to Lima back in May 2019, Page has defeated Richard Kiely, Giovanni Melillo, Shinsho Anzai, Ross Houston, Derek Anderson, as well as avenge his defeat to Lima.
