Ahead of UFC 270 on January 22. – the headlining bout between reigning heavyweight champion, Francis ‘The Predator’ Ngannou, and interim gold holder, Ciryl ‘Bon Gamin’ Gane is currently viewed as a pick ‘em fight – with no clear betting favorite emerging among bookies.
Headlining the Honda Center event in Anaheim, California – Ngannou makes his first outing since March of this year, where he stopped former two-time heavyweight champion, Stipe Miocic with a huge second round knockout in the pair’s rematch at UFC 259 – lifting the undisputed title.
In August, the aforenoted French kickboxing talent, Gane headlined UFC 265, turning in a masterful striking performance en route to a third round ground strikes knockout win over Derrick Lewis. The win earned Gane a title unification bout against Ngannou, and improved his professional mixed martial arts record to 10-0.
Less than a month out from the thunderous heavyweight meeting, according to SportsBetting.ag – there is currently no clear, real betting favorite between Ngannou and Gane, with the heavyweight forces both sitting at -110, as a pick ‘em pairing.
The only distinction between the two, however, comes in the ‘over-under’ section, where Ngannou ebbs out as a -130 favorite to close the contest over the two and a half round mark, while Gane is a +100 underdog to bring an end to Ngannou’s night in the same timeframe.
A stunning knockout artist, Batie native, Ngannou, who boasts a 16-3 professional record, is currently in the midst of a five-fight winning run – in which he had scored five knockout wins.
As part of his streak, the Cameroonian has dispatched the quintet of Curtis Blaydes, former champions, Cain Velasquez, Junior dos Santos, and Miocic, as well as a spectacular 20-second stoppage win over Jairzinho Rozenstruik.
For Gane, the MMA Factory Paris staple has begun his UFC tenure with seven straight successes – which includes wins over common-opposition, dos Santos, Rozenstruik, and the aforenoted, Lewis – as well as other wins over Alexander Volkov, Raphael Pessoa, Tanner Boser, and Don’Tale Mayes.
In the night’s co-headliner, we have a flyweight trilogy bout between defending champion, Brandon Moreno, and former titleholder, Deiveson Figueiredo. And at the time of publication, Moreno, who stopped Figueiredo at UFC 263 in June – is currently sitting as a -160 betting favorite, while the Para challenger is cruising as a +140 underdog.
