Khamzat Chimaev Sits As Betting Favorite Over Belal Muhammad Ahead Of Potential Clash

    Undefeated UFC welterweight contender, Khamzat Chimaev is currently sitting as a small betting favorite over recently minted top-5 contender, Belal Muhammad ahead of a potential future pairing between the two.

    Chechen-born finisher, Chimaev, who is currently ranked at #10 in the official welterweight pile, improved to 10-0 as a professional back in October at UFC 267.

    Opening the main card of the ‘Fight Island’ event, Chimaev turned in his third consecutive Octagon stoppage – making short work of Li Jingliang en route to an eventual first round rear-naked choke win.

    The victory came as Chimaev’s fourth victory under the promotion’s banner, following a trio of wins over John Philips, Rhys McKee, and a first round knockout win over Gerald Meerschaert back in September of last year.

    For the aforenoted, Muhammad, the Illinois native lodged his second straight win back in the co-main event of UFC Vegas 45 last weekend, taking home a hugely dominant unanimous decision win over two-time title chaser, Stephen Thompson.

    The win came as Muhammad’s second of the year, following a similarly dominant unanimous judging win over Demian Maia at UFC 263. Muhammad has scored six wins in his last seven UFC walks.

    According to betting odds from, Muhammad is currently sitting as a betting underdog at +190 ahead of a potential fight with betting favorite, Chimaev, who is sitting at -250 as a betting favorite.

    Both Chimaev and Muhammad has been continually chipping at each other ever since the latter’s win over Thompson, with the pair both seemingly interested in sharing the Octagon with each other in their next respective Octagon walks.

    Muhammad has also called for a title shot against reigning welterweight champion, Kamaru Usman next, however, the Auchi native is expected to return in the summer of next year, in a potential welterweight title rematch with the #3 ranked challenger, Leon Edwards.
