Report – Jack Hermansson vs. Sean Strickland Headlines UFC Event On February 5.

A high-stakes middleweight matchup between the #6 ranked contender, Jack ‘The Joker’ Hermansson, and the surging #7 rated challenger, Sean ‘Tarzan’ Strickland has been booked to take headlining status at a UFC Fight Night event on February 5. At the time of publication, a location or venue for the event has yet to be determined by the organization.

Returning to the winner’s enclosure back in May as part of the UFC Vegas 27 card, Hermansson took home a unanimous decision victory over the highly-touted striker, Edmen Shahbazyan.

Undefeated in his last five straight fights, the outspoken, Strickland returns for the first time since taking a headlining unanimous decision victory against Uriah Hall at UFC Vegas 33 at the end of July. Strickland was slated to feature against former middleweight champion, Luke Rockhold at UFC 268 last month, however, a back injury ruled the latter from proceedings. ESPN MMA reporter, Brett Okamoto was first to report the news of Hermansson and Strickland.

Sweden-born grappling standout, Hermansson, is also a former Cage Warriors middleweight champion, and boasts an impressive 22-6 professional record.

A 13-fight promotional veteran, Hermansson holds a 9-4 promotional résumé, which includes notable victories against the likes of Scott Askham, Thales Leites, Gerald Meerschaert, David Branch, Jacare Souza, and former interim middleweight title challenger, Kelvin Gastelum.

24-3 as a professional, slick boxing talent, Strickland lodged the most high-profile Octagon victory back in July with his unanimous decision five round win over Hall, adding the Spanish Town native to an impressive run which includes wins against Krzystof Jokto, Brendan Allen, Jack Marshman, and Nordine Taleb.

The former King of the Cage middleweight gold holder received mass criticism for comments made following his victory over Hall, where he explained how he had frequently fantasized about possibly killing an opponent during competition.
