UFC Vegas 43: Vieira v Tate Preview

This weekend sees the return of one of the pioneers in women’s mixed martial arts: Miesha Tate, facing off against submission specialist Ketlen Vieira.

The event is scheduled to take place at the UFC Apex centre in Las Vegas, Nevada on the 20th of November. With the main card kicking off at 6:00 pm ET / 11:00 pm GMT, the world’s favourite fight organisation has one last push of excitement before the break next weekend.

Miesha Tate vs Ketlen Vieira Preview

The fighter in which this card is built around is UFC royalty, Meisha Tate, someone who is no stranger to the spotlight.

Amongst other things, the former bantamweight champion is most famous for her rivalry with Ronda Rousey back in 2013. Going back and forth with each other on ‘The Ultimate Fighter’, Tate is now recognized as being one of the more noticeable personalities in women’s mixed martial arts today, and has held a UFC title in her illustrious career too. Now, in the process of a career revival, she edges closer to a title shot if she comes victorious this weekend.

Doing everything she can to spoil the party, her opponent, Ketlen ‘Fenomeno’ Vieira (which translates to the phenomenon) will be wanting to return to winning ways against her famed opponent this weekend. Vieira, who has beaten the likes of Cat Zingano and Sarah McMann, will be hunting for an eventual title fight with her in the short future if this bout goes her way.

Will Meisha ‘Cupcake’ Tate push through to a title fight? Or will Ketlen constrict the Washington native?

Michael Chiesa vs Sean Brady Preview

The co-main event for the evening is held by the ‘Maverick’ Michael Chiesa, setting off against the undefeated rising star, Sean Brady.

Chiesa, who currently holds 11 submission victories in 18 wins, will look to tap out his less experienced opponent this weekend. Having dominated the likes of Beniel Dariush, Carlos Condit, Rafael Dos Santos and Neil Magny, the lightweight-cum-welterweight has proved time and time again he’s the man to get the job done. However, not securing a single TKO/KO finish in his professional career, the ‘TUF’ victor will be wanting to take this fight to the ground almost instantly.

Carrying a perfect 14-0 record, Brady has constantly impressed fans with both his wicked tattoos and his clean fighting style. Coming off a submission win against Jake Matthews in March, Brady will be wanting to secure the biggest win of his career so far.

Davey Grant vs Adrian Yanez Preview

In what is expected to be the fight of the night, bantamweights Davey Grant and Adrian Yanez will be fully aware of the pressure of performing for the fans and breaking into the top 15 this weekend.

‘Dangerous’ Davey Grant lives up to his nickname by showing off an impressive 11 finishes in 13 wins, including an identical combination against both Jonathan Martinez and Martin Day. Now, the English fighter will want to overcome his recent loss against Marlon Vera and halt the hype of the knockout artist, Adrian Yanez.

Dubbed the new ‘Masvidal’ by image and fighting style, Adrian Yanez will welcome a stand-up war against his opponent, with him too carrying some impressive features of his own. Carrying a seven-fight winning streak including a remarkable win against fellow entertainer Randy Costa, Yanez will be wanting to continue gaining the attention of fight fans this weekend, and earning another flashy finish will be the best way of doing so.
