Luke Rockhold Returns, Meets Sean Strickland At UFC 268 On Nov. 6

Former UFC middleweight champion, Luke Rockhold is set to make his anticipated return to the Octagon on November 6. at UFC 268 — with a pairing against recent UFC Vegas 33 headliner, Sean Strickland set to land on the pay-per-view card. The card is currently targeted to take place in New York City.

A former Strikeforce middleweight champion to boot, Rockhold last featured at UFC 239 in July of 2019 where he suffered a second round knockout loss to current light heavyweight champion, Jan Blachowicz in his divisional bow. Rockhold suffered a broken jaw in the main card bout.

For Strickland, the puncher is set for a quickfire return following an impressive unanimous decision victory over the streaking, Uriah Hall at UFC Vegas 33 just last weekend. The victory stretched Strickland’s undefeated run to five straight fights. News of Rockhold’s return was first reported by TSN reporter, Aaron Bronsteter.

In the time since his knockout loss to Blachowicz, Rockhold has been campaigning for a return to the promotion, with sights initially set on a comeback to take place before the close of this summer.

Recovering from surgery on a torn labrum and rotator cuff in his right arm, Rockhold will make the middleweight walk for the first time since a brutal third round knockout defeat to multiple-time title challenger, Yoel Romero in the main event of UFC 221 in February of 2018 in an interim title bout.

Holding a professional record of 16-5, Rockhold, who has recently been plying his trade alongside Jason Parillo at RVCA in California, holds professional victories over the likes of Jacare Souza, Keith Jardine, Tim Kennedy, Tim Boetsch, and the former title holding quartet of Michael Bisping, Lyoto Machida, Chris Weidman, and David Branch.

Approaching arguably the most high-profile outing of his professional career so far, Anaheim, California-born striker, Strickland makes the walk boasting a five-fight undefeated tear.

The Syndicate MMA trainee added the aforenoted, Hall to a prior winning run which includes triumphs over Krzysztof Jotko, Brendan Allen, Jack Marshman, and Nordine Taleb.

From 24 professional wins, Strickland has notched 10-knockouts to go with three other submission stoppages.

UFC 268 takes place on November 6. and features a welterweight title rematch between reigning champion, Kamaru Usman and former interim titleholder, Colby Covington. A mouth-watering lightweight pairing between former interim champion, Justin Gaethje and one-time title challenger, Michael Chandler is also slated to feature.
