Jon Jones: “My first fight back is going to be huge.”

Jon Jones is currently the #1 fighter in the UFC’s P4P rankings. However, the former light heavyweight champion has not fought since February last year, when he defended his belt against Dominick Reyes. Shortly after, Jones vacated his belt and declared his interest in moving up to the heavyweight division and test himself further, after over a decade on top.

Jones has had his sights set on Francis Ngannou since he first announced his move up a weight class. But negotiations soon failed, and Ngannou would instead go on to capture the heavyweight title by knocking out Stipe Miocic. The two have since tried to reignite talks of a super fight, but again negotiations have failed as a result of money. However, both Jones and Ngannou are confident that regardless of hurdles, the fight is undeniably going to take place in the near future.

After Dana White again reiterated that Jones won’t be next in line for a shot, he has now taken to Twitter to reply to some fans regarding his next appearance inside of the octagon:

“I’m really not sure when I’ll be fighting next, but some downtime after a decade of wins is a nice little change up right now,” Jones said.

Jones was then told then he will be waiting to fight until he becomes irrelevant

“Impossible, my name will ring bells in the combat sports world until the day I die and after. My first fight back is going to be huge no matter when it is,” Jones replied.
