Kamaru Usman is reported to defend his belt against former training partner, Gilbert Burns. It’s likely to take place at UFC 258 in February, but the two will be more than familiar with each other’s abilities.

Gilbert Burns’ last loss came to Dan Hooker, who fights at UFC 257 this weekend. Hooker won via KO in the Lightweight division, but believes that doesn’t mean much now that Burns fights in the Welterweight division and is currently riding a win streak there.

Kamaru Usman has changed training camp ahead of his bout, in an attempt to steer away from his upcoming opponent. In an interview with ‘The Schmo’, Dan Hooker previewed the matchup and speculated the reasons behind the Champions switch.

“I think those boys already know.” Hooker told The Schmo. “You’re a day in, day out training partner with someone. You’re going to know how that fight is going to play out. That’s a fight that has happened in the gym a thousand times over.”

“And it’s interesting that he was the one who remained in the gym and Usman left”. The Schmo said.

“Yeah, that’s very interesting.” Hooker responded. “Maybe he was the one who needed to change an aspect of his game or wasn’t getting the best, so wanted to add something new. But that’s just my side as a fan. I like to look at those things like every other fan and speculate as to why things happen.”
