Last weekend, Kevin Holland extended his record to 5-0 in 2020, with a first round knockout over Jacare Souza. Derek Brunson has also recently extended his win streak to three.
In an interview with Ariel Helwani of ESPN, Holland expressed a desire to fight Derek Brunson next. You can see the full interview below.
“Is he the next one on your list, Derek Brunson?” Helwani asked.
“I would love for it to be,” Holland responded. “We’ve had a few little talks… I want to beat him up because I don’t like the way he strikes, it just looks awkward. It’s sad that he’s knocked out strikers before with that weird striking.”
“He messaged me before, he wanted me to help him get ready for the Israel Adesanya fight. I kinda turned it down… to help Derek Brunson, it would suck because he’s probably pretty good in the gym, but sucks when he’s fighting, he looks weird like that. I don’t know, he messaged me another time after I beat Anthony Hernandez and was like ‘good fight, if you ever try and do me like that I’ll throw you on your head’. What kind of comment is that, why are you talking about throwing somebody on their head? I messaged him back all hostile and he was kind of like ‘bro I was just looking to see if you wanted to train’.”
“He just seems like he’s always trying to give me some advice or something. I’m just like bro, you’re not my uncle, you’re not my dad, you’re not my mentor, you’re not my coach, you’re nobody special. Your records really not that great, why are you trying to give me advice? You should just shut up and stay in your place.”
