Earlier in the year, Jon Jones vacated his Light Heavyweight title and announced a move up to the UFC’s Heavyweight division. He first campaigned for a bout against Francis Ngannou, but claimed that negotiations broke down quickly.
In an interview with BT Sport, Dana White sat down and discussed a variety of UFC related topics. One of which was about the return of Jon Jones and his eventual move to Heavyweight.
“Jon Jones, he relinquished his Light Heavyweight title, he wants to fight at Heavyweight,” BT Sport asked. “Any conversations with Jon? He doesn’t seem like he’s in a rush back, but what’s that likely to be?”
“I’m trying to think of how long Jon Jones has been in the UFC now,” White said. “It’s 10 plus years. Jon Jones and I had the best conversation we’ve ever had about a week ago. He’s ready to come back. His heads in the right place and he and I are in a really good place.”
“That’s really good to hear,” BT Sport responded. “Would it be for the title against Stipe Miocic? I know Francis Ngannou would have some to say about that”
“No he doesn’t get to jump over Francis and fight for a title,” White said. “I don’t know what we’re going to do yet or how it’s going to play out, but we’re working on it.
