Former title challenger, Yoel Romero was recently released by the UFC. This was confirmed by his manager, who immediately started speaking to other promotions.
Despite his last fight being for the UFC Middleweight title, promotions such as Bellator and PFL immediately rejected the opportunity to sign the Cuban.
However, Bellator President, Scott Coker stated that his teams initial response was to pass on signing Romero, but that he’d be open to further discussions.
Ariel Helwani of ESPN has now confirmed that Yoel Romero has reach an agreement with the promotion, and that he is expected to sign his contract soon.
Helwani then reminded people of his interest in Yoel Romero v Anthony ‘Rumble’ Johnson, who also recently signed with the promotion.
