Jon Jones not interested in Stylebender fight: “Izzy does nothing for my legacy.”

Jon Jones and Israel Adesanya have gone back and forth for a number of years now. Unfortunately, Adesanya has spent his UFC career at 185lbs and Jones has spent his at 205lbs, meaning the two have not crossed paths yet. Earlier this year, Jones announced he was moving up to the Heavyweight division, with his sights set on winning the title from Stipe Miocic. Recently, Adesanya announced that he was moving up to the 205lbs division, to face the now Champion, Jan Blachowicz.

Adesanya revealed that his plan was to capture the Light Heavyweight belt, before an eventual super fight with Jon Jones, once fans are back. His plan was next summer, international fight week in front of a packed crowd. However, Jones took some time to answer fan questions last night, and shot down any hopes of a fight against ‘Stylebender’ anytime soon.

“There’s no red panty night for Izzy without me, I may just keep him broke.”

“There’s nothing bigger for me than the heavyweight championship. Done playing little games.”

“He was too afraid to fight me at light heavyweight, now you actually believe he’ll meet me to HW.”

“Nothing is bigger for me than heavyweight gold.”

“He made excuses until I left the division.”

“Fighting guys like Jan and Izzy does nothing for my legacy, winning the Heavyweight belt is the only thing that can bring me any higher than I already am.”

“Outside of a gigantic payday, he does nothing for me.”
