Since Michael Chandler was signed to the UFC, he’s been extremely vocal in wanting a top 5 opponent. Since McGregor and Poirier are booked up to fight, he believes Tony Ferguson makes sense for his UFC debut.

Ferguson had not entertained it much to date, as he has been undergoing contract issues since he was rumoured to face Poirier. Ferguson’s last bout was against number one contender, Justin Gaethje. He lost via TKO, which would snatch a 12 five win streak, dating back to 2013. Since then, he has been vocal about wanting more money from the UFC. You can read more about the situation HERE.

Now it appears that Ferguson may have gotten what he wanted, and now the fans might too. Tony Ferguson has called out Michael Chandler on Twitter, and he wants it as soon as 2020.

“Let’s close out 2020 in style. Michael Chandler you Putz, ya asked for it.”

It’s fair to say that this fight would be PPV material, as Fight Nights are already booked up with headliners until 2021. That leaves UFC 256 as the most likely candidate. Speaking of which, UFC 256 just lost its headliner, Amanda Nunes, which you can read about HERE. It’s likely that Sterling v Yan will be bumped up from Co Main to Main on that card, as it’s for a title. Ferguson v Chandler could become the new Co Main, and numbers might be even better for it.

Michael Chandler hasn’t been shy when it comes to Twitter beef. He will likely respond today, so watch this space.
