After over a year out of action, Leon Edwards is putting his 8 fight win streak on the line against rising star Khamzat Chimaev. Chimaev has had quite the opposite year to Edwards, making his way into the UFC and finishing three opponents in a short space of time.

Although not ranked yet, Chimaev is one of the most hyped prospects in the UFC. Edwards believes a win over him does more for his career than anyone else outside the top 5. Appearing on Ariel Helwani’s MMA Show on ESPN, Edwards was asked whether he believes the UFC want Khamzat to beat him.

“Do you feel like you are being set up to lose to Khamzat, do you feel like they want to build him on your name?” Helwani asked.

“Yeah for sure, 100%, definitely. I feel they’ve been doing that for the last 8 fights, but i can’t be beaten, Ariel.” Edwards responded.

Leon Edwards was also confident that with a win over Chimaev, he will be undeniable in regards to a title shot.

“Who else can they give it to?” Edwards asked Helwani.

Gilbert Burns is currently in line for the next title shot. Edwards believes that the UFC won’t give a title shot to Colby Covington or Jorge Masvidal, so soon after they’ve already lost to the Champion, Kamaru Usman.
