After the number one Light Heavyweight contender Thiago Santos was defeated by the number three ranked contender, Glover Teixeira, attention turned to whether Glover would receive the next title shot. The current Champion of the division, Jan Blachowicz has recently verbally agreed to face Israel Adesanya in March. But a contract is not yet in place, and many believe that the title shot belongs to the Brazilian.
After the bout, Glover pleaded to the UFC for his shot at the belt. This prompted a response from Dana White who said that Glover has a point, and it also got a response out of Jan Blachowicz. The Champion stated that if Israel Adesanya was not ready by March, he would face Glover for the title:
Now, even Thiago Santos himself has made a case for Glover, tweeting out his congratulations to the fellow Brazilian, and that he hopes the UFC give him what he deserves, a title shot.
I wanna say congratulations to my opponent @gloverteixeira ,he did what needed to do, he is a beast and so good guy, I learned a lot with that fight. I hop that @ufc give him the title shot, he deserve that. pic.twitter.com/x9i2smjM5X— Thiago Marreta (@TMarretaMMA) November 9, 2020
