Kamaru Usman and Gilbert Burns were previously scheduled to face each other in December. This came together after Usman defeated Jorge Masvidal, and Burns defeated Tyron Woodley, declaring himself as the number one contender.

However, Usman then told the UFC that he needed more time to prepare, and the fight was postponed until further notice. Although the rescheduled date wasn’t announced, Burns was very vocal that he would not be taking another opponent, and instead would be waiting until Usman is ready.

Despite his best effort, top contender, Leon Edwards couldn’t tempt Burns into a fight.

Burns then confirmed that he has no interest in fighting another contender, when he has already earned a title shot.

Burns has also expressed an interest in ‘TUF’ (The Ultimate Fighter) which is returning in March.

He then reposted a page that created posters for the potential return of the show.

So it’s safe to say that Burns won’t be fighting anyone other than Usman anytime soon and also has an interest in being a part of the show. Fast forward and he appears to have some great news.

In almost all cases of The Ultimate Fighter, the two coaches are there because they’ll be fighting each other at the end of the show. A March timeline could be fitting for this, and it’ll be interesting to see if it happens.
