Back in 2015, Conor McGregor faced Jose Aldo at UFC 194, in one of the biggest events to date.
Also on that card was Jacare Souza vs Yoel Romero, for a Middleweight title eliminator.
The two went the distance, and Romero walked away with a split decision victory, which was controversial to some.
Jacare Souza went on to go up and down in the division, going 4-4 in his following 8 fights.
Yoel Romero on the other hand, has had three title shots since that night, but lost all three. He has now not fought since his lacklustre bout against the current Middleweight Champion, Israel Adesanya.
Both fighters have fallen short of any title aspirations in the UFC, and now they look like their attention could be turned to each other once more.
Jacare Souza has posted on his Instagram that he will be ready in December to rematch Yoel Romero:
Yoel Romero has possibly hinted at a response, as he shortly followed up with a tweet that he has “big news”:
It’s no secret that UFC 256 in December is in need of some fights, so this could be a great addition to the card.
Watch this space as things develop.
